This weekends finds and some ID help!?

Well, I managed to get out this weekend. I hit two different spots.

Unfortunately I ran out of daylight when I started turning up the old goodies.

-1828 U.S. Large Cent
-a war of 1812 U.S. Infantry (Scripted "I" with a star in a circle below it) button
-two saddle? rivets
-half of a huge fancy crotal bell
-a couple flat buttons
-horseshoe looking item

the other place turned up a 1913 barber dime, and a 1903 indian head penny

Does anyone know what the horseshoe shaped item is!?!? It's way to small to be a horseshoe. It's 2 1/4" long and 2 1/2" wide and only 1/16" thick. Looks like brass. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

I like the large cent and the barber! Nice Job! HH

would this be a boot plate from a military boot...or just your run of the mill civilian boot??

I just saw you called. I'll give you a call this week.

Funny the only coins I found were U.S. coins...and the button was U.S. as well. I love finding U.S. coins. I have about half a dozen large cents now, countless indians, and that's only my 5th barber coin.

my only coins being 3 U.S. coins...plus the U.S. button. Interesting that the 1812 stuff comes from Canadian soil. I wouldn't think a U.S. soldier would be welcome on Canadian soil at the time.

It's cool to think about how it got there though
