This Weekend I bit the bullet and bought the Whites Dual Field

I've wanted to explore the PI side of detecting for a while but I've had a very hard time making up my mind about which unit to add to the arsenal, finally went with the Dual Field.
The Infinium had my interest initially but I hated the tones, like nails on a blackboard to my ears.
The TDI piqued my interest but without going through the hassle of trying to waterproof the unit it wasn't any good to this surf pirate.
Some of Eric Foster's stuff caught my eye but without a background in PI's I thought I would ease into this, especially because of the low mineralization in Bermuda.
The Dual Field doesn't have a lot of info available on it yet but it's based on a rock solid machine so it got the nod. It didn't hurt that I had a credit of $420 with detector dealer that I'd won and my winnings at the poker table this weekend added up to the balance of price of the Dual Field. This way I can try out what appears to be an excellent PI machine without going into my pocket. I also really need another machine with my Excal about to crap out on me, my CZ-21 in for repairs and lots of donors starting to visit the Bermuda Beaches big time after a slow start to the season.
Hopefully, I'll have the Whites Surf Pro Pi Dual Field in my hands by mid-August; then I can send the Excal away for a complete overhaul.

Cheers All,

It's not the underwater TDI that I had originally hoped for but upon reflection I think it was a good choice considering the low mineralization I have here. I'm really curious to see how deep the punch will be with the 12 inch coil. If I can punch down 24" consistently then it will be an excellent investment, a lot will depend on how it behaves in Bermuda conditions.
God knows that I have plenty of sand to punch through at the moment.

Cheers Mates,
