Hi everyone. I know it's been a long time since I posted pics of any finds but the truth is I've been having so much fun I haven't taken the time. Down now with a torn right rotator cuff so I'm going to try and catch up with some of my better finds. Most of the finds in this and future posts were pulled out of 2 spots I've been researching and hunting hard. All of the finds were made with an MXT and either my 6x10 or D2. I'm also using a DX-1 probe....awesome ! I hunt in relic mode, trigger forward with my disc. at 2 and my gain as high as I can keep stable, usually around +2 - +3. I'm sharing this first installment in honor of our gracious moderator Nancy who we all know, loves nickels. I appreciate all the help and encouragement you've offered Nancy so I hope you enjoy it. I apologize for the condition of the coins as I know it's more interesting to see all the detail but I like to leave them as they came out of the ground. Maybe I'll clean them completely someday.
The top row is my 2 V nickels. The one on the left is my first 19th century coin. Dates obscured but it's 189?. The one on the right is a nice cond. 1902. Super stoked when I found both of these, they're hard to find around here. The first one was my last find on a hunt and I didn't even realize what I had for a couple hours.
Row 2 is my first and only Buffalo (no date)...that was one I was really wanting to find.
Row 3 is my collection of silver war nickels for the season. All but one were found at one spot. R-L~ 43-P, 43-S, 44-S, 44-P and a 45-S. I found 2 on one hunt and thought I was seeing things.
Rows 4 and 5 are the pre-war nickels I've found. Top row R-L~ 41-S and 41 Bottom row~ 40-S and 40.
Well that's all for this one...I hope you all enjoy.

Very nice Scott. As you know, I love seeing those nickels come out of the ground. I have to admit, I love the Buffalo nickels better than any other. Congratulations on all your finds. You get better and let that rotator cuff heal. :stretcher: It can take a long time and listen to your doctor. PLEASE! I hope it's not because of you swinging your MXT so much. :surrender: You take care and thanks again for posting those beauties. Nancy

Hello Scott, I second that idea of taking care of that shoulder. I have had many surgeries and that one took the longest to heal. I use a hip mount wit my MXT and it does help. I am also 69 so you should recover quicker----IF you follow your dr's orders,,,,,,,,,,,,,Larry

Scott,
Nice post and good finds. Love those nickles too. FYI - My MXT Pro VDIs on nickels at 18 or 20 (everytime). Ran a test garden on clad, pre-war, V, and buffalo and thats what she says. (18 or 20 so I know what I'm looking for) Field trials give me the same results. War nickels (i've found 2 thus far) have VDIs all over the place. I enjoy your posts. GET WELL SOON and a SPEEDY RECOVERY CCH

Thanks for the well wishes. No, Nancy, it's not an MD'ing injury. Cajun, I don't recall exactly what all the war nickels read when I found them but I do remember they were not consistent, as you said. I've learned that when I get a solid signal and the VDI is wandering BUT is generally around the nickel area of the scale, I dig. That's where I'm pulling up the older nickels...sometime. Glad you like them. I'll put together another group of some of my better finds for the season and post them sometime soon. It's killing me not being able to hunt.
