This project is finally coming together.......

just a few more photos to catch up on the progress.

This should have been the Original Design in the beginning, Very Nice...

That set up really looks good and one of the best I have seen. I will say that we have seen more mods of a Sovereign than any other detector and a real shame this detector will be discontinude the first of the year.
Thanks for sharing your design and like I say it is very nice.

Rick

What does this beastie weigh? Not that it will slow you down. It looks really good; very professional work.

Damn impressive, professionally done all the way! I agree with OldBeechnut.

MEL, It looks like you are REALLY SETTING THE STANDARD of TOP NOTCH WORK!! If only MINELAB would TAKE ON your P-R-O-F-E-S-S-I-O-N-A-L
STANDARDS!! WTG Mel!! Les Robinson

I'm really flabbergasted !!!! my tongue is tied

Is this waterproof?? What a great job either way but if it's waterproof then it's FREAKIN' COOL!!

n/t

WOW! Freakin' COOOL! I'd be curious to see what your total cost and time invested are when you get done if you'd share that info. Also I'd love to see a writeup on the build. I may want to attempt this type project.... Or if you get into doing these to sell......

Mel, now that is one MONSTER mod! Very slick there. And by the looks of it the enclosure is just big enough to house the electronics so you aren't getting bulkier than you need to. Very nice. Also, I see you even ditched the built in speaker. I might do that on my GT just for added weight savings. Easy enough to put back if I ever wanted to.

I'm planning to hook the speaker output up to a wireless headphone transmitter installed inside my GT. With no headphones plugged in the audio output goes to the wireless transmitter. Plug in a pair of headphones and it bypasses the transmitter just like the built in speaker would get bypassed and now outputs out the headphone jack to normal headphones.

Going to run the TX module off a voltage regulator so it can feed off the GT's battery when the GT is turned on. Just got to make sure the regulator or TX module don't cause any EMI issues, so I'll probably place grounded shielding between those and the GT circuit board so any EMI or the TX transmission is projected outward away from the GT's electronics.

There is a nice pair of wireless headphones for like $45 that Kbron2000 is using on his GT. Some wireless headphones have a lag in the audio or don't work well with certain detectors, but from the sound of it the ones he is using work great with the Sovereign.

Once again, you've got one fantastic looking water unit there. A waterproof GT water unit. Does it get any better for water performance? Not in my book...
