This one's for you Rainy- Silver uMax depth

Well, well. It looks like the Silver uMax hits a dime at almost 8 inches just as well as the Outlaw--at least in the conditions here.

I apologize for the blurry footage--still getting used to filming with a phone. Its not as easy as those Youtube guys make it look!

AWESOME! One thing I was wondering about, if you hit the dime from two directions 90 degrees apart would the signal still be solid? My guess is that it would. I run my disc. setting right where yours was in the second part of the video, that being just shy of zinc penny. Usually the beaver tails will only hit in one direction and it will be a little raspy like your signal was. Occasionally though I dig those signals and have found coins on edge. The fact that the coin was relatively freshly buried makes your video more impressive yet! I will probably wait until next year to get another deeper detector because the Silver has been on a clad finding frenzy lately. More silver coins will come, it is just a matter of hunting where other coils over the years have not passed over. I pay special attention to trash areas and slow down the sweep speed and look them over real good because I find lots of coins masked by the trash that just can't hide from the Silver. Gotta love this great little detector. Thanks much for the great video.

Both the Outlaw and the Silver hit that dime from several directions but both also lost the signal a on a few swings. These results get me thinking about maybe selling the Outlaw and put it towards a H.O.T. detector like the Tejon or Vaquero. If it and the SIlver are just as deep in my hunting condiitions and both appear to seperate equally well, I dont see the need for both. Plus, I can keep the 10x12 and the 5.75 for the Silver!......I cant get over just how well that little Silver does!

Yeah mojotrout we all think deeper after awhile. What did we miss? Probably nothing, but we will never know unless we go deeper. I have read some interesting post on the silver with the 10 x 12 being deeper than the Vaquero. You have the coils, you might as well give it a try. I am thinking about getting one and giving it a try because my wife says there in no new detector in my real near future.

Right after reading your first post I went out and found three wheaties at 5-6" that hit perfectly loud and clear from both directions. I then went to an older trashier area and slowed down the swing speed and picked my way through the trash and found several coins including a 65 dime and quarter. I have over a dozen 65 quarters and over a dozen 65 dimes. It is really irritating being one year off from silver all the time!
