This one has me stumped. -Folding copper plates w/ rivits

These fold together. thats ho I found it in the ground. Also found a 1918 wheat at the site. I got them to open a little but I overdid & hence the break at the hinge.

But I have no clue what this would be used for. Took time to make it so it does something...

Looks an awful lot like the cover for a jewelers Loup, but it is too thin???

HH,

Maybe a double keyhole guard?

Looks like it might be a part to an old electrical switch, commonly called a contact. Just a guess.

Now I am thinking some kind of old feeler guage...I did not see at first that this is 3 parts...An upper and lower case and then the pivoting middle piece...

HH,

Each end has a small rivet wich prevents it from folding fully closed. I still have no clue but like I said-Someone took time to design/make it so there is an answer. If the sides were closed or folded I'd say a stamp/coin holder but its just flat copper-all the same thickness, size with the center pivot & end rivits.

Strange little thing indeed. Feel stupid breaking it as I ussually have a good feel for metal. Just not used to this age brittled stuff.
