When tabman showed up yesterday and I had already recovered 2 silver dimes he made some comment that I can't recall, but I told him "the early bird gets the worm."
This morning I pulled up to the spot to meet him and spotted him already out in the field swinging away. Upon our meeting a few minutes later (actually, he almost jogged over to me) he flashed a big grin and showed me a 1900 Barber quarter he had dug a little earlier. I come to find out he had been out hunting since first good light. And the early bird had the audacity a few minutes later to dig another Barber quarter, a 1899. Those were his first Barber quarters and I did get to see his version of the happy dance.
Me, I dug a total of 9 and 7/8's coins this morning. The 7/8's being a sliver of a S L quarter and the sliver had the date, 1917. Since that target had been a mixed signal and was kind of hoping the other part of the quarter might be nearby, I stuck the pro pin pointer back now in the hole and got a weak vibration off on the other side of the hole. From all of 8" I recovered a 3 ring mini. The silver sliver had some depth as well. Over the course of the hunt I dug some horse tack, which included the big buckle, a "use pansy flour" thimble, what might be a heel plate, 2 other dropped mini's and 1 very ornate piece that I have no idea what it is. ANY IDEAS GUYS? My coins were all clad and Memorial cents.
I am really loving the A T Pro and am about to spring for the A T Gold. I feel they would make good companions. HH jim tn
