This mornings field hunt!:garrett:

When tabman showed up yesterday and I had already recovered 2 silver dimes he made some comment that I can't recall, but I told him "the early bird gets the worm."

This morning I pulled up to the spot to meet him and spotted him already out in the field swinging away. Upon our meeting a few minutes later (actually, he almost jogged over to me) he flashed a big grin and showed me a 1900 Barber quarter he had dug a little earlier. I come to find out he had been out hunting since first good light. And the early bird had the audacity a few minutes later to dig another Barber quarter, a 1899. Those were his first Barber quarters and I did get to see his version of the happy dance.

Me, I dug a total of 9 and 7/8's coins this morning. The 7/8's being a sliver of a S L quarter and the sliver had the date, 1917. Since that target had been a mixed signal and was kind of hoping the other part of the quarter might be nearby, I stuck the pro pin pointer back now in the hole and got a weak vibration off on the other side of the hole. From all of 8" I recovered a 3 ring mini. The silver sliver had some depth as well. Over the course of the hunt I dug some horse tack, which included the big buckle, a "use pansy flour" thimble, what might be a heel plate, 2 other dropped mini's and 1 very ornate piece that I have no idea what it is. ANY IDEAS GUYS? My coins were all clad and Memorial cents.

I am really loving the A T Pro and am about to spring for the A T Gold. I feel they would make good companions. HH jim tn

Jim you found some really interesting stuff today. Well you always find interesting stuff.

I sure hope someone can ID that one really unusual item. It's very ornate. The early bird will be out again in the morning.:detecting:

Wow..You guys did well..Jim could that be an Old Pipe Lighter..........

Thanks, guys.

Tab, you better be heading out shortly or you will be the late bird.

Elton, don't now about the piece being a lighter of sorts. When I first dug it, I thought maybe a whistle since the round knob on top had holes for maybe putting a length of something through for hanging around ones neck. Don't know?

I don't know if I want the Gold then. I would hate to let the Pro set idle. HH jim tn
