Ok Spring is just around the corner. I am sure all of you are anxious as I am to get out and hunt. Your detector has been stored along with all your hunting equipment. NOW is the time to CHECK all your equipment so you have no surprises when you go to use it. The year before last had the batteries out of my machine all winter, and had it stored in the living room. First hunt go to put the batteries in and the machine is totally dead. Had to send it in. I have NO idea what could have happened to it since it never happened before.

Are you a water hunter? Has the handle on your scoop rotted out near the base? Are your waders ready with no holes. Did you outgrow your wetsuit? Mine has a tendency to shrink every winter. I never could figure out why. This year I got a membership to the local YMCA and have been working out at least 3 days a week. Will show it who's boss!! Need a new pair of booties cause yours has holes or the zippers broke? Do you want to make a floating sifter and never found the time for it because you hunted too much? Now is the time. Need new gloves, boots, a better shovel, a better scoop?

Putting off research? Time now to maybe hit the library and see if they have a local section on your area. I am in the process of making a web-page. I also am designing business cards to give to all the marina's I can find.

How about FREE adds on Craigslist under lost and found in your city? Find lost rings and whatever for folks. Doing that can get you into a lot of doors. Because I have been on Fox 2 News Detroit twice and featured in 7 different newspapers (NO not under the Most Wanted section!!) I am widely known and have had access to places nobody else can touch.

I am sure there are plenty more things you can do to get ready for a profitable season. My boats need to stay covered for another month or 2 but in April I will be jazzed to have them uncovered.

For you divers, Tanks need visualized every year. Every 5 years hydro's. Are they in specs? Is all your dive equipment in order? Nothing like going to get a tank filled only to find out the hydro is expired and it will be down for 2 or more weeks.

Time to prepare and plan so your first hunt of the year isn't a DISASTER!!! Good luck out there!

Yeah! Load up on batteries while they are on sale...get two of each of everything like screwdrivers, trowels, and keep the spares in your vehicle. Come up with some sort of system for your trash..you can save and recycle for money all the lead, brass, and whatnot...for you who have never kept a daily log of finds...you should do this at least once in your life, how much gold or silver or even clad you found..set some really high goals for yourself and go out to meet them. Get Serious about your hunt! pull yourself out of the box you are in and try a different style of hunting every once in a while. Plan yourself a really cool weekend run to areas you've never been, stay overnight at a campground or somewhere cheap...see how much you can find in a day! Think Gold everytime you leave the house!...This year you ARE going to find that dream coin or object you've been searching for!
