This Might Seem Silly...

....but hey, I have to wonder.

Since Tesoro can modify a Cibola to give it a high tone, I wonder if you sent your Cibola or Vaquero into Tesoro, could they put in the multi-tones like the Golden uMax has?

Why ruin the Cibola & Vaquero with multi-tones :poke:

Ruin? Hardly. There have been times when I just wanted to coin shoot. I can run my discrimination on low, get better depth, and just hit the high tones. Its an asset for a detector to have that feature, not a liability.:punch:

Having a machine with multi tones is the reason I traded my DeLeon I almost always have use my Omega with 3 or 4 tones.

Since using low discrimination and tones doesn't affect depth, it would be nice if Tesoro could figure out a way so you could pick and choose which of the tones you could hear or not hear without using any discrimination. There could be a tone for iron, a tone for foil, a tone for nickel, a tone for pull tab, a tone for screw cap, a tone for zinc penny, and a tone for copper, clad and silver coins. 8 tones total for the separate ranges. There would have to be a display screen to make it feasible and workable.

I'm not normally a "tones" user. However, I made a decent buy on a detector with extra coils that does have tones capability along with the TID. This detector has too many (9) tones in my opinion. I can see where 3 or 4 over the target range could be very useful, but 9 is just confusing so I generally detect with that function turned off.

Then there are those of us who prefer no TID. For us (at least me) a tone for spotting a target keeps it simple and to the point. However, even though my UMax is basically just "a" tone, it does change characteristics on different targets. Mainly the tone may "pop" or just sound "smoother" or something like that. Hard to describe but years of use as allowed me to "hear" a difference to some degree. And I'm one of those who if I have too many variables will always be fiddling with them and never satisfied that this one or that one is what I need at the moment. Simplicity holds my ***** retentive tendencies in check.

I have the Tesoro Royal Sabre and in the regular discriminate mode it has two tones and the variable tone phase discrimination like the Tracker IV. They have used it before, in another words. All they would have to do is copy something they've done before. They could even have a switch to turn it off or on to satisfy dairy farmers.:starwars:

Smudge-
I've asked that myself, and think it would be a nice option on the Vaq or Cibola. Possibly, they could put something in place that would toggle between single or multiple tones, keeping everyone on both sides of the fence happy. Kind of a cool feature.

we would all start to lose good targets being dependant on Tones.. ?????????

May as well have TID........... I like the fact you dig most signals that Beep.......... Beep & Dig at it's best !!!

Absolutely! But in the real world, I go by location and time on hand. When I retire, it will be beep-dig. In the work-a-day situation I opt for ID in some locations..But, there's also a third way in this situation, and that's just going for the full signals instead of the broken signals. One day.,when there's plenty of time...
