1. Practice listening to a silver coin until the tone burns in your mind. If anyone has any musical background they might let us know what "key" the tone is in. I call it the silver tone. U can do the same with nickels too. When u recognize that special tone,,,u don't have to stare at the screen unless u hear a likely signal.
2. Go slow to separate the targets. The XS is gathering all the readable and tone signals and "averaging" them out. It is imperitive to go slow. It will give u the sound but u have to slow down so that it will separate the signals. In trashy areas it is a must to do it this way.
3. Some guys are talking about their XS being too noisy. Blacken out more of the "iron mask" and this will help until u become more accustomed to the data the XS is sending u.
4. After all of that, u can try various settings.
I do not have 20/20 hearing so I have to use gain at 10. I envy those that can hear the small tones. I guess that's it. Hope it helps some of u. GOOD LUCK!!!
