TALES FROM STATEN ISLAND'S ABANDONED MONASTERY
History may tell us that the St. Augustinian Academy, located on Grymes Hill, Staten Island, NY, was once a boys high school that closed in the mid to late 60's, and later became a retreat which was abandoned in 1985. Wagner College now owns the property and is thinking of using it for student housing. Our readers , however, tell much different tales about what goes on at, and under the old abandoned building.

I seem to remember an episode of "Dirty Jobs" where the company was removing all "salvageable" items from a building that looked a lot like the picture, and if I'm remembering correctly ( which is rare!!) the "description" was very close to "...was once a boys high school that closed in the mid to late 60's, and later became a retreat which was abandoned in 1985".
