I have seen that boat at the launch before....If you ever put in down here in the Longview area send me a p.m and I can possibly show you a spot or two.
The shad will be here in the next week and I am taking twelve days off for them. Will be launching out of Kalama each day so give a shout if you wanna go rip some lips on those little rockets.

Here is a boat I was on for a year in Viet Nam. My tour of duty had just recently ended when this Army LCU (landing craft utility) capsized in a typhoon.

In 1969 we were caught in a monster storm during the monsoon season in Viet Nam in our own LCU, but sought the safety of a harbored cove and rode it out. It was without a doubt the roughest seas I had ever been in, with swells 20-30 feet high and howling winds. One swell ( time and time again) would pick the boat up and literally turn it around 180 degrees in about 5 seconds. We took a real pounding; the only thought that ran through my head was "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE." These are heavily shark infested waters, and the last thing I wanted to do was end up in the drink 2 miles off shore in a raging storm. I remember feeling so bad for this other crew that died in that typhoon when I heard about it. We were based at Qui Nhon as well and I new some of that crew.
