Spent 10 minutes chasing this nickel/ring signal. I understand that pull tabs are a demon we all have to deal with but come on ....!?! Has anyone else EVER come across this before ?

I have and it will drive you crazy. Had to start carrying wire cutters to keep the digging down and still be able to retrieve the target.

Yes. It won't be you last one either. I carry a locking blade pocket knife to help cut roots. Keep it sharp and make sure the lock really locks well so you don't fold it on a finger.

Yeah. Once or twice. But not on a root that large. Wonder if you can sell it on eBay under Oddities?

You know Dang, that was the exact thought that I had when I found it. Oh well, I'm not an ebay selling type of person so I'll probably just let my daughter make it into a little art piece when she comes home to visit this summer. She's got an artistic soul. ( yeah, I'm not a creative, artsy type of person either).

and I ended up being the high bidder. It is a gold 1937 class ring that a root has grown through. I just thought it was so unusual and unique that I couldn't pass it up.
Bill

No way , that's classic ! Of course a '37 class ring is a little more desirable than a pull tab but you never know.

What is to say that you can just slip a ring over one of them... or how about a ring that is to small for the roots... and the roots.. over take the ring..now that is a sight...
