This is a very nice buck, and now I have his rack to hang on the wall without even pulling the trigger.

We have a large number of deer that live on our place and I post a few pict every now and then. Some large bucks have been living around here and it is fun to get a picture of them. This buck and I have had a few run-ins this year, and I almost had to kill him in self defence one morning when he was in the rut, and was going to take me on when I went out to get my truck out of the shop. I could have killed him 20+ times during hunting season, but that would have been too easy. I have gotten to the point where it is more fun seeing them on the lawn than it is to kill one. This is the buck that Elson was chasing around with a knife, fork, and gumbo pot in October. I have some better pict of him, but this one shows his antlers well.

He is a nice one. I very much wanted his rack and almost harvested him to get it. But as things sometime go the right way, I thought there might be a chance of finding his antlers after he dropped them in the spring. The odds of finding them were not in my favor. Last week I went out on the lawn after work, and there was the left antler laying by my pool! I was so happy. I never thought that would happen. Now to find the other side. The odds were against this too. I looked all over my land and nothing, zip, nada. Not even any smaller drops from the other bucks. The next night I walked around my hay field and there was the right side laying in the grass. Here is Nancy holding them for the photo. There is no doubt who's antlers these are!

What is kinda wierd is that he is the only one of the 15 or so bucks that has dropped his antlers. The rest of them are still strutting around here with headgear. I guess he wanted me to have them. Every time I can,the hunt is still on. There is a nice symetrical 4X4 that would look nice on the wall to. HH DC
