This horse may get hurt............

Early this afternoon, I spotted this horse tied with a thin rope around his ankle as he grazed near the side of the road. I remember seeing this horse a year or so ago on the other side of the road, tied with the rope attached to a halter. I do not believe in tying a horse to graze, much less tied by the ankle. If something scares that horse, it is quite possible that it would suffer a severe injury, possibly to the extent that it would have to be destroyed. I may drive back out there tomorrow and see if I can find the owner, and tactfully visit with him about tying the horse this way. I still have some halters left from the old home place and will take one with me to give to the owner. If he has to be tied to graze, maybe I can at least talk him into using a halter. This is really sad. Kelley (Texas) :(

Most folks would not think of the danger that Horse is in, as you stated , and I think it is a very good deed, that you try to find the owner, and offer a halter! No one wants a domesticated animal to suffer any unnecessary harm. Looking forward to hear of the outcome, hopefully Positive!

I have never seen a horse tied by the ankle, and common sense tells most people with any knowledge on horses that a horse would injure itself very easily being tied this way. Good Luck!

That looks like a steel cable behind the horse tied to the small tree,,,a small steel cable like in a come a long...
It don't take much to s p o o k a horse...
Good luck on finding the owner...
