This is a short one minute video clip about a guy who treasure hunts every day, weather providing. He water hunts, and makes some terrific recent finds. The guy has what many of us would consider a "dream job."

Hard work and low pay but if your standards of living are not high, it can be done. I suspect that most who hunt every day possible are merely supplementing an already established income.

I would think that if one had a very low standard of living one could make a living for a while. But once the local area has been cleaned out one would have to travel further and further from home base. After a period of time the travel time and costs would out weigh the value of the finds.

Also one would need to be in area where the climate would allow one to be working every day Instead of treasure hunting being a Hobby it would become a seven day a week JOB.

I do not want a JOB.

Real tough and once the hobby became a job it would get old....Plus no medical insurance is a major problem....

The following is a true story.----I knew a guy some years back that made some great (fabulous) finds beach hunting gold with an old clunker metal detector.----His line of thought: If I can do this good---I'm getting a top of the line detector & quitting my job to do this full time!! (which he did)-----Guess what? (yeah you guessed it):) He had already apparently pretty well cleaned out the areas he hunted & his finds were dismal (at best) from then on.------This same guy told me if you could see the gold finds that are down deeeeep in the sand at a certain place we were at---you would be shocked.:yikes:--------He may have been right---but---barring storms with cuts in the sand--which certainly doesn't happen just every day--how do you get to 'em with a metal detector?-------Moral of the story: Just enjoy this great hobby for what it is--a GREAT HOBBY----without making a JOB out of it!------------Del

Find it very doubtful one could make a living MDing unless they were looking for old sunken Spanish gal-eon gold. But then that would cost money, big money to do.

For this guy in the video who claims to make a living finding lost fish hooks, good luck. Think of the fuel, food and lodging expenses traveling to greener pastures. And what about his diving gear expenses?

Or maybe he sleeps and lives in his old beater car, only snorkels, eats Spam sandwiches for dinner and has no rent, mortgage payments, health insurance, home insurance, utility bills or property tax bills, etc. etc.

I have actually used my finds in a tight spot to buy gas, food, and pay bills- but no way could make a living.

hmm! can you say broke because thats what I would be.

....here is an example of low standard living...

Plus , when word gets out your finding stuff of value for a living. Here come the claim jumper's.:punch:

I don't see anything wrong with his hat. Mine would have a Kentucky Wildcat on it but every one has different tastes in hats just like detectors.

Don't see anything wrong with the hat. We all have different personalities that suit each of us. My wife bought me a pair of overalls for Christmas. After wearing them, I want some more of them. Told her to expect to see me wearing them all of the time. At 59, reached that point in life that I don't care what others think about my dress style. Just enjoying life every day!

To all those folks who don't think this can be done. I and many others will not tell you our secrets on how and where to hunt.
