Bought it today for the kids for 10 bucks..what kind is it.....and how basic of machine is it...seems very basic to me....
 
I played with one for a few minutes that a local pawn shop had. That one would find a quarter in a gravel playground maybe four inches deep, pennies and dimes about three inches with discrimination set to reject foil. Okay for kids, especially at the price you got it for:).
