This could be the last time.... Ground frozen in places...

I got out for an hour of detecting late afternoon. Ground was frozen around trees and other places where the soil was up higher than the rest. We may get a couple inches of snow tonight, even with temps up to 40 or so during the day it might be the end for the year.

Chris

Haven't found much postworthy lately. Did get an IH and handful of wheats tonight. Found a 1943 steelie; at least that what I think it is, in a coin spill last weekend. Everyone I've found before has been fused to a copper wheat. This one was alone.

No,No,No,Noooooooo! (hands covering my ears)

I am getting up early tomorrow. Supposed to be mid 40's + -- a heat wave coming through

You should move to somewhere like San Antonio or Austin, Texas for example for year around metal detecting and a mild winter. I have often thought if I was lived in the US I would NEVER live in a northern state as I hate cold weather and I live in Canada, go figure !!

BUT over here on the East Coast even though you have the freeze for 3-4 months the potential for many good finds and many sites more than makes up for it.

A person could dig if they really wanted too but they would have to work hard to get to the Target in the ground. I could get my Old Lesche into the ground about an Inch and a Half today (have lost over an Inch of blade length the past 2 years?... if I remember right when I got it new) and could have probably gone out for awhile with the New Lesche and gotten better results but I figured it just wasn't worth that kind of effort in retrieving Deep Targets. Besides, the chances of hitting them greatly increase when the ground is hard so that was another reason. I'm glad you were able to get a few more Coins Chris before the ground turns to Cement. Hope you get out a bit more in 2009 buddy! Until then, Good Luck and HH. Now to continue doing more research.
