This coin is really...really lost

Got out for a short hunt today and turned up a 1900 one cent piece from the Netherlands. Thought it was a little weird to find a coin from the Netherlands turn up in rural Idaho. Also scored a WWII airmans pin and my 99th silver (war nickel) on the year. One more to go!

Definitely a long, long way from home. Congrats on the odd find and the 99th nickel!

99 war nickels! ? That is crazy.

I guess I should have worded that differently, it's my 99th silver coin of the year... And it's a war nickel. 5th war nickel of the year.

My fault too! I hadn't had the morning coffee and I was in the middle of cleaning up some more large cents I dug up... Stinkin things get so darn cruddy ya'know, I wish I was diggin up more silver since it is easier to clean.....
:poke:

j/k

:nopity: I'd trade new silver for colonial copper any day of the week! I've only heard of three people finding a large cent in Idaho and I'm one of them. Mine was a 1798. Only one I know of to reach the 1700's around here. I'd love LOVE to be able to find them consistently. They sure do get toasty though.

Tones, I am right behind you with 91 silvers for the year. Dug a 1941 English 'One Shilling" Thursday, but also got 27 nickels from 1940 to 1981 all from the same hole (a foot across and down to 6") and not one was a war nickel. 600+ wheats.from 1911 up.

Jas415- wow! You're killin me on the wheats. I've got about 480 or so. But hey, where there's wheats, there's silver... Well... Sometimes.

I need to get out more...

congrats on some nice work and outstanding totals for the year!

Sube- as far as I can tell in its condition it's worth about $5 bucks or so.

Yeah... What he said :)

'Nice Dutch (Netherlands) coin. Indeed far from home. Greetings from the Netherlands."

When you say "find" does it technically have to be dug up? Mine was found in my step son's Grandma's collection right here in Idaho. I :surrender: I already know what you are going to say.

You should throw it in the yard for Ryan to "find" next time we're out

That's a great idea but I won't use the large cent He might not find it. I will use a "silver" stardust casino token. He may just p@@p his pants when that huge "silver" comes out of the ground. Then I will  and he will :punch:
