Went to a school this afternoon for a few hours. Had already been over this particular area twice before but this time went really SSSLLLOOOWWWLLLYYY. If I'd been any slower I wouldn't have been moving at all. There were no really clear signals so dug all the broken one's that bounced from the minus numbers into the thirties with a high tone. Result was 23 coins, mostly those pesky 1 and 2 cent but did get a couple of pennies and a 1910 threepence. Didn't cover a lot of ground so I'll be going back......Ken.

I always use all metal, no disc. I was hunting around some seating in the play ground and it was really trashy and with all the constant noise and trying to concentrate on the better signals I came home with a real headache. Some of the 1 and 2 cents were just below the surface. I was a bit off with pinpointing one of the pennies and when I looked in the hole it was on edge, standing vertical at about 4 inches. There's one spot in the local showground that has yielded some predecimal coins, it's not a big area. I did it a couple of years ago when first started with the Quattro. Seeing the number of coins I picked up on this occassion I'm going back to have another go REAL SLOW............Ken.

Golden, is this list all the detectors you and "your hubby" own? I'm intrigued here, and I hope I'm not being impersonal, not mentioning your husbands name, but I'm trying to be discrete here, and find out what your getting at with that post? I can see one trend here and that is: four out of five of those metal detectors are Minelab detectors, which is all I'd consider buying at this point in time. If I had more money, I'd buy the newest Explorer, then the Excallibur for beach work, then "maybe" I'd think about another brand. Marc Trainor.

Gidday Marc, these are the detectors we own and use. I've just got back from a 2 day detecting comp using my Quattro, and found enough tokens to win me a nice set of electronic gold scales! So I've been weighing all my gold and silver rings I've found to date, not to mention a few gold nuggets! What I liked the most about our trip is the weather was hot!:detecting:
