this a good price for a 1500

I can get a new GTI 1500 w/o headphones and a coil cover for 579.00 shipped

This is the best I have been able to find this machine priced at.

Anyone find a better deal anywhere?

Joel

It's fair, but at that price you should also get a large imaging coil too. If this GTI 1500 is the older model with the white imaging coil, then maybe you are paying a tad too much. TRY a Want To Buy in the classifieds and drop a bug in all the Findmall sponsors ears what you are looking for.

MSRP is a penny shy of $800.00 and Kellyco's price is $679.00 so if it's brand new with an unsigned warranty card that ain't a bad price.

Bill

I sure would love to be able to pay recommended retail Bill. That would be $880 AUD. Instead, they are $1395AUD over here. Too rich for my liking. I wonder if we can buy from the US instead, as there is no way I can justify paying that much more.Maybe a second hand unit might be the way to go.

So how illegal is it, if I buy one and sent it as a gift to Oz? Than later on I get a nice thank-you from Oz.:ausflag:

Can't you buy from the U.S. over the internet and escape all that Your money should be worth more than ours now. Our dollar is in the dumper. Canadians are coming here to shop. Can you buy off Ebay and get a break

That's worth a try Bill. I've been led to believe, that the US shops were not allowed to sell to us. I hope I'm wrong. I'm not signed up on E-Bay as yet. Don't know too much about it. I have looked a few times, but would have to buy from the US E-Bay due to a greater selection.
Thanks for the input.

That's a very kind thought John. I'll see how I go selling my explorer first, and go down the path that Bill suggested.
I hope the grand kids are travelling well.

I ordered (and will receive next week) the new version, imaging black coil and 1500 for $579 plus free cover, at http://www.detection.com./ He assured me it was not the white coil which was fragile compared to the epoxy covered coil. They paid the shipping to Louisiana, too. phone # 1-888-369-8999. HH

I've just sen the 1500 used for $554.00 and the Demo unit $654.00
New he wants $639.00. Sounds like your in the ball park.

Kelly co will do the same deal if you haggle. Ask for Wanda and refer her to my post and hers: $579 new with cover and rhino covered imaging coil.

Hummmmm.
If you can find anyone in this neck of the woods that you trust, you might be able to have them buy the machine for you and ship it to Australia?
Just an Idea. Do you have any friend traveling to the USA? How about relatives?

Regards
Robert R

Yea but ask her about the free shipping.
I bought my Ace 250 from Kelly Co and found they added an additional $12.00
to my order. Why? I was told it was "shipping" added to cover the cost of the extra free items they sent.:nono: BS
if you ask me.

No Rob, but I am confident of hunting a unit down. I've got plenty of time as I think that The Explorer is going to take some time to sell. It's a bit rough looking and has the shaft glued into the control housing due to faulty design of the earlier units.

Bill[/quote]He can buy one on Ebay from a US seller no problem. The 2 things that will add to the price:
1. International shipping is very expensive
2. The seller will have to disclose the price paid on the customs form. There might (probably will) be a tax or tariff on Mick's end that will add to the price.

And the answer to someones probable reply about putting a low price or gift on the customs form:
1. Why would an honest seller (businessman) put himself in a position to falsify an official US government document that could lead to him being fined, imprisoned, put on probation or a combination of all 3?

I have shipped lots of international orders. Have I been asked to falsify the price. Yes. Have I ever done it. No. I like my freedom.

Mick, you will need to factor all this in to see if it really will save you any money buying it form the states. Good luck.

There is a free trade agreement between the US and Australia, so there is no tariff anymore. Previously, if an item was less than a $1000AUD, then it was also free of tariffs. The cost of freight will be around the US $50 mark. The only other cost, may be US state taxes that may be payable. As I understand it, it could be around 15%, depending on which state I buy from.
