Third time out compared side by side with Etrac

Went to a different park today that I hunted earlier with the Etrac I hunted it with the CTX, found some signals, and then went over them with the Etrac. My findings were the Etrac does have a measurable disadvantage compared to the CTX, Improvements I noted today are:

Better target separation even during nulls shallow targets around three inches or less will still be found.

Improved balance-every one knows this

Lower rod is much stiffer and does not have coil sway-the Etrac does. I am 6 '2" by the time I extend the lower shaft rod there is little length left on my Etrac-not so with the CTX.

Minimal depth improvement perhaps an inch or so.

Major improvements in EMI stability, the park I was at today could not be used well with the Etrac by the time it settled down the sensitivty which was auto plus three settled at 19, my experience at this low setting means a major loss in depth. The deepest target I recall recovering at this sensitivity level was around seven inches.

All of this of course IMHO, I am not a dealer and have nothing to gain or lose by posting positive or negative comments. I took a vid today and will post it if it turned out well enough-major wind gusts may have ruined it.

Thanks for the post. I am not an etrac owner but I have an Exp2. I know I have seen improved depth on the CTX compared to the Exp2 and improved separation.

From a "results" standpoint, that pretty well sums up my thoughts. I will say, if you were able to run 19 with Auto +3, and dig a coin at 7 inches, it has to be doing something right! Thanks for taking time to make the comparisons and posting your opinions. HH Randy

I am interested in knowing how many people are using the CTX 3030 with water proof headphones ans how they like the machine compared to the Excalibur 1000.
Thanks

I have an Excal and am going to do that when I receive my headphones, I am not going to buy the Koss headphones from ML. I know there are others preparing other waterproof headphones when they become available I will purchase them and then do the side by side. So far, IMHO it will be hard to beat me Excal in the water.

Mine will be here next week. I already love it. Water proof headphones coming to. Also getting a cz21. Heading to jamaica

I went head to head with an Etrac (using the 13" Ultimate coil) on Friday and we compared many signals. We both found that the CTX hit harder on each target with a much more stable ID reading. There were no targets that only one of the detectors could get as both are great and both perform well. But we did have to give the edge to the CTX that day.

Bob,
Did you notice the Etrac seems to be more stable with Co numbers but less stable with Fe? Even with shallow targets it seems the CTX Co numbers jump around much more than the Etrac. Just my HMO

No, both sets of numbers and the audio seemed more stable on the CTX. In most cases, I was running a sensitivity around 24 or 25 in auto+3

Keeping up with an etrac attached to a 13" Ultimate coil is really something. Even equalling it is great. That 13" Ultimate coil really increased the performance of my SE so the CTX to keep up or marginally surpass the etrac with this coil on is great news. I only have 4 hrs. on my CTX but lovin it so far.

That's the report I've been waiting to hear Bob.----You & Ray doing some comparison tests with these two detectors.---Your report is sounding good for the CTX (not that the Etrac is a slouch)! :)-----Got one question though----Are you goin to be able to get Ray to turn loose of the Etrac with Ultimate coil combo & grab ahold of the CTX???----Either one of them is such great detectors!--------Del
