Third good find

Rob (IL)

New member
Found this ring 14 kt at a sports field. It measured a 26 VDI. It was my third good find in 3 weeks. Rob

Congrats on your gold ring find Rob. That's a keeper!

I had the 6 x 10, but any coil would have found it as it was 2" deep. Rob

I noticed you said sports field and not what sport. Are baseball fields usually good places to hunt off-season? I usually relic hunt, but I'm getting my son interested in hunting and I'm thinking parks, ball fields and schools to start him on.

Our sports fields have baseball and soccer fields. Also the little kids (Pee Wee's) play football. High school football is played on school fields and are fenced. I do better on the soccer fields I think because they run around more than baseball. On the baseball fields I would look in the outfields where you have to throw hard. There is more chance of a ring coming loose.

I would suggest hunting where the most people are. Look around the bleachers, along side lines, under trees in the shade, or anyplace people sit to watch. Check concession stands and the grass around the parking lot where people put there hands in pockets for change or keys. On football or soccer fields check the worn areas first. On all fields finds where guys put there equipment bags between games or where they do any spike changes etc. Rob
