Thinking of trading new Cibola (Need Advice)

Prospector

New member
Hello everyone. Recently bought a new Cibola with the high tone feature. I have never used it in the field, but have tested it here at home. It really is a deep detector. The reason I am thinking of getting rid of it is because I have a Minelab unit that I just picked up that has ground balance and target I.D. features that will go just as deep. I really don't need two high end detectors at this time. I am thinking of selling or trading for a new compadre and some boot with the smaller coil for tot lots and as backup unit. That way I want have as much tied up in the two detectors. Any thoughts as to have good the compadre is for this purpose?

I dunno? I have a Minelab X-Terra 70 and a Vaquero. I like having both units. You did not say which Minelab you have. It will not cost you to keep the Cibola, and you will not get back what you paid? If it were me I would keep both and use both. The Cibola may just suprise you. I know for a fact that My Vaquero suprises me everytime I use it, Beale.

I'll tell you exactly what << I >> would do....

There would such a dust storm raised up every spare hour I could find people would think a tornooly was on the way.

I would get one of those machines to pay for itself, if it had to be in clad!

(No doubt about which one I think would come out the winner!)

Good luck on your choice!

From what I hear.

The Cibola will out do the lower end Minlabs,

and some of the not so lower end ones also.

I'm happy with Tesoro.

It works very well, and I can make it pay for it self.

Can't beat that with a stick!!!!!!

HH,

I agree with Beale,
If you already have the Cibola why not keep it instead of selling and taking a loss just to buy a lower priced model.
One thing you could do is buy a 5.75" for the tesoro as those coils are lower priced than the minelab coils and use it in tight places and where there is a lot of trash.
That way you can take both detectors and use which one suits the conditions.
You may also dig some nice targets with that Cibola that you may pass up with the minlab because of bad or jumpy ID readings.
Just my thoughts and experiences,
Good luck on your decision,
Felix

this is what you should do , get a 5.75" for the cibola BECAUSE it has a great turn down capability which will get you closer to metal poles and benches and fences you will find more thigs my old M-6 had this wonderfull capability and whith the 4x6 i could go whare most other detectors could not now the compadry has no sensitivity so it will bark at 12" from metal poles but the compodry has great all metal and can still do great in a tot lot i keep the disc at the RO in the word iron to over com metal poles you can swing derectly at the pole and it will not beep untill you revers the derection so you will hear a dubble beep i have found several quarters very close to poles but you are losing a big advantige getting rid of the cibola because it can be turned down so nicely i found the silver umax is like the compadry the sens is maxed wheather you are at lowest or highest ya maxed it goes a bit deeper but at its lowest sens it still hits a coin at 4.5" whith the cibola i could get it to lose a coin just beond 3" or turn it up and peg a coin at 6" SO'' get the 5.75 for the cibola i think you will do better
