Thinking of getting a second MD

AndyIreland

New member
I already have an Ace250 but i'm only for a more powerful machine that will give me better/more depth

What machines should i be looking into?

A lot of choices. Are you in Ireland and do you desire a Garrett?
If so, then I wouldn't trifle myself with anything less than a GTP 1350 or GTI1500/2500.

Being in Ireland, however, service should be a consideration. Ensure there is a "Garrett certified" technical center in your region. Otherwise, Texas is a loooooong way from the Emerald Isle, should service be required.

If you are open to something besides a Garrett, PM me and I will be happy to make some recommendations.

Ye i'm in Ireland, even though i love my ace250 i'm open to any make of metal detector atm

I've seen a few MDs around that have pinpointers attached to them, i might also be interested in something like that

I'm totally open at the moment

My question should really be, if you guys were in my position and had around $1000 to spend what would you buy

$1000? Fisher F75 LTD, first choice. Garrett GTI 2500 2nd.

I have just purchased the GTP 1350, upgraded from 250,, have not used it yet , it is described as the 250 on steroids, and every thing I have read elsewhere suggest this,, the 1500 and 2500 sound like great detectors, but I thought that maybe the imaging would be a bit to much for my uses, so went the cheaper option

Also i forgot to say, a couple of things i dislike about the 250 is that it hasn't got a backlight for mding at night, and it isn't waterproof/water resistant, so if it's raining i can't use it

What do you mean, you can't use it in the rain? I use mine in the rain all the time.:detecting: They sell environmental cover ups for the control box which are specifically made to fit whatever machine you are using.:wiggle: I just use a sandwich bag.:)

As far as backlights go, those that were mentioned by dahut and Uncle Willy have it.

Now, if you want one that is completely submersible, you cant go wrong with the Sea Hunter. Six hundred something, brand new. Or the Infinium at just over a grand.

Best of luck to ya' whichever machine you choose.:happy:Happy Hunting:)

If it is too dark to see your detector, its time to go home.

But it's so hard to go home :buds:
I know, but there are few good things for men to be found in the dark. Besides, I gather that 'nighthawking' is getting a pretty bad rap over there.
