thinking of buying a tesoro for coin hunting

With a preset ground balance the max depth depends on your soil. If your ground is good, you are probably looking at 8-10". The more mineralized your soil, then the harder it is to tell the deeper signals from the ground signal. So hard to say what you might top out at in your soil

However, for coin hunting, the tone id is a great help. The notch and notch width control give you the option to hear it all, or be more selective.

There are deeper models, like the Cortes, or the Tejon group, but they aren't as much fun in my opinion.

Hello Pana and Mike is giving you a very good recommendation with the Golden Umax. I have been working one out myself and I love it. The tones are great, a bit close together but easy to learn. Talk about lite, no strain for sure. So it has become one of my favorites and I also recommend this one. One thing you have to realize any detector has it's limits but if you are willing to understand the physics involved in this hobby you will do well Pana. Nice to meet you and I hope you try a Tesoro because you won't lose for sure ! CU later and God Bless.
