Thinking of a whites

CHRIS OC

I currently have a minelab safari and a Garrett ace 350 now I'd like to try a whites machine , which is better for cellar hole hunting ???? Was thinking either a mxt pro or the vx3 , I need some opinions please , which of the 2 gets better depth , ease of use ect..........????? THANKS ALL

MXT pro will be probably the best ease of use but I would reccomend the MXT pro with the 9.5" coil or a DD style for around old cellar holes. I am sure someone else will comment on the V3. The MXT pros battery life is awesome. If you do not need tones or a back light, the regular MXT or M6 would do also for you. Good luck, Tim

I second an MXT Pro. They get good depth with a larger coil. It has a gold prospecting mode, cache/relic hunting mode and a coin and jewelry mode. It has a 7 tone ID, you can ground balance to salt water, has a back lit display for detecting in dark cellars. Get it with a 9.5" coil and a 6x10DD and it will be the only detector you will ever need.

I would think for cellar holes you would want something like the 12" for depth. A friend found $16,000 in silver and gold coin buried in a basement many years back.

Yeah I would want a 12" for depth in a wide open area but for in and around crevises which is notorious at cellar holes, I would want something smaller in coil size.
