Thinking Minelab CTX 3030

Waterdog

Well-known member
I had a minelab E trac but it seemed to heavy, a friend of mine got a Minelab CTX 3030 and let me try it out. It seemed to be better balanced even as it was heavier in weight. I think I might like to get one...maybe. Any advice before I jump in on it?

I have an Etrac and had it before the CTX came out. Some of the most important things to me that were introduced on the CTX are the ability to switch between 2 different modes with 1 touch of the user button. Being able to adjust the FE line from 17 during TTF. It is easier to swing for longer periods and the Target Trace is priceless. I kept my Etrac because of the X1 probe and several coils I have. I would not get rid of either.

I think all the machines prior to the ctx had balance problems it was not the weight that got you it was the poor balance .The ctx fixed that if your fit you should have no problem swinging for hours I still take breaks but i'm not 25 anymore:angry: .sube

Same boat, same thoughts. You can tailor the CTX way more and it's a swinger, but my Explorer2, probe and bunch-o-coils ain't ever going anywhere.

The platforms between the two machines are similar. The CTX 3030 is better balanced but it does way more than the Etrac or Explorer does. With the CTX you also have a waterproof machine if you do any water hunting.

Are there things that you are concern specifically about with the CTX other than the weight?
