THINKING ABOUT TRADING T-2 FOR EXPLORER 2

Any thoughts on this? I mostly hunt coins and jewlery at parks and schools. Would the Explorer 2 do better at these places where deeper silver targets might be? The weight issue will not be a problem. Also i hear Minelab dont work on the early Explorer series. Thanks Tom

I DONT WANT TO KNOCK ANY DETECTING COMPANY. BUT I CAN TELL U WHAT I DO LIKE ABOUT THE EXPLORER AND ETRACS. THAT IS THE HIGH PITCHED SOUNDS THEY GIVE ON EVEN DEEP COINS. I WATCH MANY MANY SIDE BY SIDE DEEP COIN TESTS WITH MINE-LAB EXPLORER OR E-TRACS. AGAINST MANY TOP OF THE LINE COMPETITORS.AND TECNETICS WITH THE FOOT COIL WAS ONE OF THEM. T2 GAVE A VERY BROKEN GRUNT SNAP.A SOUND SIMILAR TO BROKEN IRON WITH THE EXPLORER. AND THE SAME UN DUG SILVER DIME THAT THEY WERE DETECTING ON @ 8".GAVE A SWEET HIGH TONE WARBLE IN ALL DIRECTIONS WITH THE MINE-LAB. YOU CAN FIND THOUSANDS OF DETECTING VIDEO'S ON YOU-TUBE. MOST GUYS USE EXPLORER OR THE E-TRACS. AND SOME GUYS GIVE YOU ALL THE SOUNDS OF THEIR MACHINE BEFORE THEY DIG. JUST MY THOUGHTS. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DECISION.

Explorers are excellent old coin and silver machines. I use mine on the beach for deep coins and jewelery .... but it will miss the tiny deeper gold targets. They are a fast recovery machine but you can almost not move the coil and still get a response. Working trashy areas require listening more than looking at a screen and you have to hunt it slow.... kind of like your are painting. The smartscreen will give you lots of information even on those really deep targets. Its a pretty versatile machine.... relics, coins, even the dry and wet sand of a beach. The standard coil for the II is said to have been the best made... but now with the Pro or SEF they are on equal playing field. As far as ML not working on the older machines..... right now they have only discussed the XS the machine before the Exp II. It was said they will work the XS as long as they have the parts.

For deep coins at parks and schools the explorer is super. The T-2 is a good detector as a friend uses one. He does do a little better on gold than I do.

Just playing devils advocate here folks but how do you think the T2 compares with the E2 in mineralized ground? You think the E2 still has an edge on depth?
