Thinking about getting a new e-trac

Johnny

New member
I have seen a lot of post on e-trac v/s v3 , I can say one thing that whites makes it hard to but the v3 . They can't mail the v3 out of state and the dealer that is in my state I don't care to buy from. All so I think the e-trac will do as good or better then the v3. So what do you think???

Can not help much on the V3 but you'll love the E-Trac. I can say my finds have gotten much better after learning the E-Trac..Found more Silver with it than the other machines I've owned,as well as been able to find good targets mixed in with the trash.

Plus the help that the members have given me over the past few months here is priceless. Do you have someone near you that uses the E-Trac? If so go out with them once or twice and see what it has to offer.

Most of the people who use it and end up putting it up for sale just never took the time to learn how to use it, just like any new machine it does take some time to learn but the pre-sets will work fine to start with. Do not get all hyped up about all the patterns and other stuff at first..With the help of the members and Andy Sabish's book (The Minelab Explorer & E-Trac Handbook) I've taken a little from all then played with it to match the way I like to hunt. When you have a Q search here due to the fact it probable has been asked before..no such thing as a stupid Q.

I have had a SE in the past and like in on the most part. The only thing that I was not happy on the SE was the slow ID in the trash. All so I hunted with a x5 coil and it did something that was not just right, put a quarter & a washer the same size 1" a part and the x5 would null , but put the 10" on and it would get the quarter. Just didn't under stand that one. And where I live the concentric coil work better then the DD, so thinking about getting a 8" concentric coil for the e-trac.

I've tried the V-3 and it is a nice machine. Uses Minelab technology. I am partial in my opinion because I own an E-trac.

I prefer the sounds the E-trac makes over the V-3's audio.

A friend has a V-3. I often hunt with him. We compare quite often the targets and I sometime get signals where he may not. It is not often that I cannot detect what he detects. I am better at silver at depth. ID'ing is pretty close between the V-3 and E-trac.

Either way, I don't think you could go wrong.

I have both machines and I definitely like the etrac better. The etrac is a no nonsense setup machine which is pretty much turn on and go. The V is capable of a lot of things if you are willing to put the time in and understand each function. The V seems to me to be just a dfx on steroids with a pretty screen.

I was seriously thinking of jumping on the V3 band wagon and get rid of the E-Trac, but now I'm glad I didn't. At the time Whites didn't even have the instruction manual out for that machine and no one really had a clue as to how things worked. I kept a watchful eye on the Vision/V3 forum and nothing yet impresses me, as there are still to many bugs that still being ironed out and I am sure I would have sold it as fast as my detecting partner did with the one he had. He bought the V3 and sold it within 3 days after he purchased it. Guess what machine he sold to buy the V3? Yep, the E-Trac. Guess what machine he bought after he sold the V3? Right again the E-Trac.
The E-Trac isn't a magical machine, but it is hot and once you get the hang of it the finds will start coming through.

HH and good luck on your decision.

I have both machines. They are both awesome in my book. The E-Trac was easier to learn but I think that is because I've ueed Explorers for many years and they are similar enough the transition to the E-Trac wasn't bad at all. I don't have either mastered by any means but I think I have a better handle on the E-Trac right now.
