Thinking about buying a F70. Have a few questions.

First of all, I had a F75 for about six months. It was a love hate relationship and the hate finally won out. Being a coin hunter I liked all the features that the 75 had but there were too many places that I couldn't hunt because of interference. Also didn't like the high gain areas in discrimination. So if I didn't like the 75, would it be possible that I would like the 70 or are they very much the same in the way that they perform? I know the 70 has less features but from what I have read, it has the features that I would use. The main purpose that I would use this detector for would be a lot of in town, high trash areas that a fast response time is a must. Now that there is a small coil available it has peaked my interest in this machine. Please, I would like to hear your good and bad experiences or maybe I should say strengths and weaknesses of the 70.

Thanks

Kurt

Kurt,

After using the F70 since early this yr, I can NOT think of any other detector I have used in all my yrs of detecting that come close to its performance, weight, comfort and abilities.

As long as you start using it with moderate settings and then work your way up with them, you should have no problems at all.

Best of luck with your decision.

Kurt,

I have both F70 and F75. I hunt a lot of inner city yards and have used all three coils on both machines. It is my experience that the DD coil causes a lot of the spurious noise that can drive a person crazy. When I first used my F70, I thought it was the threshold setting that was allowing it to run smoother, but I have come to believe it is the coil selection. There are two features I do not like about the F70; one is the pin point, I would prefer a toggle switch and the second is the arm grip, I wish it was like the F75 or maybe they could put slots in the F75 grip so it could be used either way.

Neither detector has been upgraded. The F70 was bought used and has the first software revision, I have to make sure to master reset every time to make sure disc works properly. The F75 was purchased new in Feb or March 07. I have been so pleased with their performances and my success I am reluctant to have them upgraded.

I am in no way involved in the metal detector industry, just enjoy the hobby.
