Thinking about an 8x6 SEF coil for my trash shooter..

I currently have the stock, 6x10dd and a shipped 10x12 SEF. Today I ran into an area so trashy that it was giving my 6x10 fits. Started looking at my options. I have heard good things about the 4x6 and 5.3 whites coils. The very few things I've read about the 8x6 sef have been good. The keyword is "few". We all know that the SEF coils go deep. Would the 8x6 separate just as well as the whites smaller coils yet be deeper? If so, common sense makes the 8x6 the coil of choice for me.

What I would like to know is if anyone here has experience with the sef in question.

I use both the 8x6 and the 4x6 and love both of them . To answer your question the 4x6 would do a better job of separation in real trashy area's due to its size being smaller . The 8x6 does a great job but it is bigger in size than the smaller coil which does make it cover more ground . I love the depth I get with both coils I really never paid to much attention to which went deeper because I only use my 4x6 in trashy area's like play grounds and that's not a place where I am worrying about depth as most targets most likely will be shallow anyway . Maybe someone else can answer your question about the difference in depth.

Both are DD coils so they should both get between trash pretty good mine does real well , but if I am hunting real trashy parks or real trashy area's I go with the smallest coil I can .Hope this helps some .

Just to add my 2 cents worth..Bearharold is exactly right..in my opinion, where you have the 6x10d..i would go with 4x6..excellent little coil and great around playground slide rides..etc.dont think you have much better seperation on 8x6 versus 6x10 to justify buying 8x6..and 4x6 has decent depth for a small coil..Curt
