Thinking about a CTX 3030

Hi All , been trying to hunt gold, but it seems I have trouble on the uneven ground . So I have been hunting coins and that has worked well.
I am now thinking I want to trade my GPX 4500 for a CTX 3030 . Question is , is this a good idea. I have yet to find gold, but seem to almost always get a few coins.

The CTX definately isn't the best for nugget shooting but is one of the best for coins and jewelry. The dedicated gold machines like your GPX isn't the best for coins, so if you're finding coins with it, I'd imagine you'd do great and find lots more with a CTX. The best option would be to keep the GPX and get a CTX. But, I realize that can be a sizeable investment tied up in detectors. There are a few detectors that are capable of both, but none would offer the performance in their specialized hunting categories like the two you mention. That being said the new Equinox may do well in both areas, but until it gets released and we see some hands on testing, no one can say for sure.

Bottom line is it's a tough call. Depends on what you want to detect for and what you want as far as detecting priorities.

I have not found coins with the GPX , I been using a Whites MXT . I have had my hands on an Equinox at an Outing in AZ, good machine but I was not going to wait.
For gold I have a Gold Monster but I wanted a higher end coin machine that is why I am willing to trade my
GPX off for one.

Ahh, then I'd keep one of the gold machines, sell the other and get a CTX! If you are already a Whites fan, then a V3i would also be a good coin & jewelry detector. In my humble opinion, not as good as the CTX when it comes to target ID (and I'm sure there are a few V3i owners who would disagree with me) ... but that's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.
