A friend bought one to use in the water when hunting rivers and such with his Excal, where he can't just scoop sand to find the target due to rocks and hard bottoms. It gets lousy depth. No where near as good as the ProPointer. It's also funky and a real hassle the way the thing turns on and off automatically. If I were you I'd waterproof a ProPointer in a vaccum seal food bag. Even still, though...I think it wouldn't be practical to hunt with one. Kellyco used to sell (maybe they still do) a detector you wear on your hand and you skim that across the bottom looking for targets. It was meant for use at swimming beaches where metal detecting is illegal, because it's pretty small and doesn't look like one on your hand. More like a glove if I remember right.
