I wonder how this got onto St. Augustine beach. I wonder where its from, who or what it was from. A person? A pet? Any ideas on how to find out?

check this site out : http://crematoriumpcs.com/
The Crematorium @ PCS
is part of one of the oldest embalming services in Atlanta.

I have heard of some folks throwing the whole darn ur out to sea...I am no expert on the subject, but do they use tags to ID the urns???

HH,

I spoke with The Crematorium at PCS in Atlanta and they confirmed it is from them. They place the tag with the remains and notify the family that it is there. So whoever scattered the remains at sea or on the beach should have known it was in there and likely wanted it left at sea. The Crematorium would not tell me who the tag belonged to :( I'll be going back to the beach today and will rebury it deep up in the dunes where its likely not to be disturbed as metal detecting isnt allowed there.

We should combine our finds to make the ultimate creepy find lol. Found a dove and cross that goes on a grave marker or urn last week on the beach. Maybe the story of our finds are similar.

Tossing an urns contents into the sea the ashes and the tag would disburse. The tag likely will make it's way ashore in time and tide.. Till you came across it..

i found one of those and called the place and they gaved me name and date of death,i tossed it back on the bay
