[attachment 116524 HPIM0062.JPG]For my Silver umax, anyway. Went to a little place where they hold little carnivals and hit a hot spot about 20' X 20'. Almost every signal was smooth and round. Got to experimenting and found out I could set disc where foil just "crackled" and get by all the foil that was present. The little ring is proof..The dollar size token is the AA token with the prayer on back. It gave a HUGE signal and I almost didn't dig it-but it was smooth and round like a regular shaped object.

Trash targets sometimes have a "clipped" hesitation on the front and back of the signal. Coins, especially those in the high coin range, are "full",i.e., they give smooth transition from back to front, and thus they sound the same no matter which direction the searchcoil approaches them-fully "rounded". If hunting in the foil discrimination and set too high(too close to nickel) the nickel will give a slight "clipped" sound, but will still hit hard enough to qualify as a good target. A soft, smooth signal is something to get excited about, as it could be silver.and pretty deep. Forgot to mention the religious medal next to the AA token. I believe that if I had left the disc at full foil reject I would have missed the small ring. I moved the disc knob where the pointer was directly on "iron" and foil would "clip" enough to id it as foil, as this seemed to be the most annoying trash item I had to worry about. Hope this is interestiing. Thanks.:tesoro:

I had no idea .

Nice going. I've had my eye on a carnival spot for a long time now but could not get permission. Hoping that it will change ownership in the near future.

This is one of those quickie traveling carnivals that stop on a vacant grassed over lot next to Kentucky Fried Chicken and last about a week. Find lots of light bulb bases and "ride" coins like the three on the top right of the pictures that they use instead of money. Taking advantage of the fact that no permission is needed at the present time. Hope it lasts-unfortunately no gold rings have been found in the last couple of years.
