Things aren't looking very good...

...I sometimes feel like a burden to our community with my prayer requests for Brian, but another problem has developed that I am very concerned about. As you know we were scheduled to go for surgery October 2nd, and we still are, unless things change tomorrow. The last 4 nights Brian has bled profusely through his mouth leaving blood stains the size of a saucer on his blankets, sheets and pillow cases. Carol called Vandy Saturday and they suggested we wait until Monday to see our ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist. But Sunday night around 12:30 I checked on Brian before going to bed and was shocked to see blood pouring out of his trache and mouth. I woke Carol and we cleaned him up and rushed to the emergency room. The doctor on call couldn't find the source of bleeding but suspected it was caused by tumor growth crushing a blood vessel close to the surface, somewhere in the back of his throat or possibly his nose. We called Vandy on Monday and the soonest they could see us was Wednesday so we called our ENT but they said there wasn't anything they could do either. Brian did pretty good today with only minimal bleeding and this morning I took him to our local fair to see some farm animals, crafts, etc., since he can't ride any rides. But this evening when we put him to bed he started bleeding real bad again after laying down which made me think that somehow additional pressure was applied to the vein while he is lying down. So, I drug the recliner into his room so he can try to sleep sitting up. Our appointment is for 9:25 in the morning which means we will hit the road at 6:30. I fear they will admit him to figure out what is causing the bleeding. The tumors have just exploded in his face and mouth making it hard for him to talk and now he complains he can't breathe through his mouth.

I know you guys are praying because the pager has been going off at all hours of the day and night and it is a real blessing when it does.

God bless you guys and thanks for being there for us.

Doug, Carol, Sarah and Brian

It is so hard for me to hear this, but remember that God's plan for you and for Brian is good. Jer. 29:11
My prayers will double!

it is our pleasure to pray one for another as well as our responsibility. Even though we have never met face to face we love you all and are praying for all of you, especially Brian.

I'll have to look up that pager number. I have been kinda out of the loop so to speak for about 2 weeks since Nana passed away.

...Brian woke up and vomited a bunch of blood. The Childrens Hospital here didn't help us Sunday so we're going to the Vandy Childrens since his plastic surgeon is there.

Blood levels were critically low and he is undergoing transfusion now. Carol will ride with Brian. Dad and I are driving to Nashville...leaving now.
