John.........thank you for sharing your tips etc;. When you showed your test regarding wearing your ring on your finger and holding it at a certain point on the handle, it gave "30%" more depth detection, have you experimented adding different amounts of metal to that part of the handle to see if more metal will add more depth detection to the pro pointer?
Also, I dropped my older style p.p. on a concrete sidewalk one time (on vacation in England) and the internal on off switch popped apart. I couldn't believe how flimsy the switch was and gave up trying to fix it after many attempts. BTW, I crazy glued the whole switch together and it worked for awhile!! I wonder if they have beefed up the switch in this latest p.p? I hope so because it may be subjected to harsher conditions i.e. under and around rocks and boulders in rivers and stream beds.
I personally don't have this latest p.p. but from all Ive seen, it looks like it's worth the money
