I went by a park I discovered. It's with in walking distance of two state colleges.
It's an old park and it's the first I've been there.

When I drove up I was surprised to see a play ground with all the playground
equipment totally ripped out and gone.

This play ground has a variety of different materials. Some of it is shredded tires.
Some is sand and there is some funky pea gravel. Some is natural ground. Some
of the natural ground was black like it was in a fire. The black dirt was real nasty.

I used my Euro Sabre for a while which is though but I needed more speed.
My time was limited. I don't know how long it will be here.

I ended up doing most of the hunting with my Silver. It was great at handling
the different conditions and was not bothered by the steel in the tires, the pea
gravel or the burnt ground. It was much faster than the Euro.

I was surprised to find a lot of old things. No old coins how ever. I found eleven
very old bullets. Some old clock parts, suspender snaps, some poetry pieces,
I found three cheep rings. One has a smiley face. I found some coins and a
head light off some old toy.

Best find is my 1951 dog tag.

Here is part of the new playground they are constructing. You can see
some college housing in the back ground.

Hope you enjoyed todays hunt.

HH,

Well Tabdog, I guess those college students must have wanted a shiny new playground and were willing to pay more taxes to get one!

Gosh, that is a huge collection of diggins!

I would be pretty much whooped from that many ups and downs...

Nice stuff there TD - I'd hunt till they make it not worth it. They have that rubberized stuff showing up at more and more tot lots around here in some parks, and now see some at some schools.
Looks like the Silver done it again for ya

You were busy. I find alot of those triangular cycle-mower teeth. Most of 'em are pretty deep.

you didn't find any old coins? The stuff you did dig looks pretty good and it would appear to be a good spot. You need to go back and get them silver coins now that you cleaned out all the other stuff! Nice dog tag tab dog!!

That park is just a little over 50 miles from my house. It's not bad if I'm already over in that direction but
that's a long drive to hunt. If I can get a long day it would work better but I have to make my time there
count. I like the place and it has a lot of potential.

It may have been hunted previously. It does have signs. The absence of coins is one of them. There is a
bunch of people on farther west of there that are going to start a metal detecting or treasure hunting club.
I recently found out that they are the bunch that cleaned out Lake DeGray before I got to it. But who ever
it was that beat me to the park was cherry picking. I think.

Thanks again and happy hunting,
