I've been MDing for over a year now.I just received word that my new Explorer XS is being shipped today.Any tips to get me started? Anything would be much appreciated. Thanks,Kenny Ray

hi ken,
i was detecting for over a year before i got my explorer too. all i cn tell you is read everything you can and read this forum alot and practice. ive had mine since they came out and its just amazing but it does have a major learning curve. once you get pass that you got it made. it took me about 2 months to get the hang of it and most likely everyone else.
at first i had to bring both my detectors with me to locate coins and to see how the explorer reacted. most likely youve never used a DD coil. lol. well ppin pointings going to take you about a week to learn alone .just hang in there.
just give yourself time to learn the machine and youll never look back.

If it doesn't come with it get Andy Sabish's book and read it through with the detector in hand stopping and trying along the way. Do the detector garden bit he suggests. It's worth the time. It's going to sound and act different than your old machine. It takes time and since it's winter this is the best time to go slow and learn so your ready when the weather gets good.
Post your local and see if there is another Explorer user near. Most of the guys will be glad to take you out for a day or two. The best way to learn is with an experianced user to answer the question first hand. Take your time and enjoy!
