Winter is still among us, snowed last night, ground still frozen.
Just past by a schoolyard had my eye for some time, hoping to hunt within the next several weeks, when we thaw out.

Drove past it this morning on the way to the hospital. Saw dirt, piles of it, the earth movers were removing the top layer.
Thinking, they couldn't wait for a couple weeks..............$@#&^%$(&%^^^& &^%$#^&((()...... before re-sodding........
23 degrees F wind chill of 12F

After the hospital drove by again, oh man, not re-sodding, building a huge addition, now they have a big hole started for a foundation.
Bet that dirt will be hauled away later today..................
Everything is fenced off, no trespassing.

That stinks. I had that same thing happen at a church. I could not get in to hunt. I was able to ask the dump truck driver where the dirt was going. They was using it as fill in where new houses were going to be built. I knew the contractor for the housing develoment. He said I could hunt till they brought in the big equipment. I hunted and did not find to much. Only a few silver cions and some clad. Look to see where the dirt is going to go. You might find something.. KEN

one of my sweet spots is going to become condo's this summer. going to be hitting it hard when the snow is finally melted. got some good stuff from there too.

Search the dirt piles.

Once several inches of dirt was removed from a small park in a flood plain. I found over 50 wheat pennies and two mercury dimes one afternoon. I sure would like to know where the dirt piles are .

If you could catch somebody there and ask them where they are hauling the dirt to maybe?? you could hunt the dump spot. A lot of time they put in in places that are low and they spread it out, that's perfect!Mark

I'd be on the look out for those dirt piles as well. That does stink tho . I did an article a while back on hunting the street sweeper piles. I bet those dirt piles didn't venture to far.

I have come to the conclusion no one cares about my metal detecting habits they build stuff on great ground and or dig it up and toss all the goodies away  what is wrong with them  surly they have better things to do :rage:

Cruised by after shopping this morning.
Dirt piles still there, weekend lull.
All surrounded by 7' fence.
Spotted an opening where the orange security fence was trompled down, easy access now.
Only one thing stopping me, ground is frozen solid.
19F degrees out, wind chill 4F

Maybe 39F Sunday, Rain, periods of wet snow and 45mph winds. Worst of all have to do some moving Sunday.

Can always hope...........later on in the day before the Sun goes down.

ask to have the dirt brought to your house . its going somewhere. find out where,

Thats a shame regarding the soil being taken away from what is possibly a good site to detect especially as you have the bad weather against you,i guess that is one of the downsides of living so far North, and i thought the UK was cold enough.Although its windy today i will be out all day tomorrow on a local site
