These are some finds that are fascinating to me.

I've collected these metal blobs for decades now. All my lead blobs get recycled, so all of these are other metals. The variety of colors and shapes are fascinating to me. I have artistic plans for these and more that didn't get in the picture.

I originally wanted to recycle my 'trash' finds too but gave up on the idea after realizing how much work it was to clean the dirt off of the trash. Hats off to you for putting in the work. What do you typically get for your recycled trash metal in a year?

I really wish I had saved a lot of odds and ends like lead, misc. brass, etc. After 44 years I should have had a lot of salvage "stuff".

Mcdetect, I get about $200 a year from recycling copper, brass, aluminum, and lead. I keep them in 5 gallon buckets.

I’ve been a remodeling contractor/handyman most of my adult life, and always saved scrap wire, aluminum, brass and copper pipe & fittings. I have drums that I keep it all separated in, and watch the metals markets to see what the scrap prices are doing. Before retiring, it was not unusual to get $150-200 TWICE a year for recycling what a lot of guys throw away after a job every day. Scrap usually helped fund a new toy for my many hobbies over the years. Waste not...want not! I still keep scrap and recycle, though on a smaller scale, and can often be caught going through people’s trash on garbage night if I see something sticking out.

I hope that you photograph your artistic project and post it. Also, glad that you recycle your scrap finds. That's a win-win-win deal: you clean the environment, stimulate the economy and put cash in your pocket! Hard to beat that while searching for goodies.

I love detecting house tare-downs. Aside from silver and other keepers. I have dug or picked up quite a bit of recyclable scrap metal. I smile when I get a good long signal that pinpoints narrow at old home sites - it's usually a good piece of copper pipe.It does not take long to use a wire brush to clean it and cut it into 12" pieces.Here are a couple of Findmall links to my major scrap finds:
