Yesterday I went out behind one of the apartments I take care of. The area was homesteaded in 1900 and I was hunting in what would have likely been the front yard of the long-gone house. Hit a solid foil signal and was ready to pass it up, but decided to remove the offending trash for future hunts. Last fall I found Indian head and wheat pennies here. And also an 1865 2-cent coin. Anyways...I cut a plug down until I hit the perma-frost and flipped it over. And this little gem was frozen to the bottom. I did'nt want to break it so I Iet it sit in the sun while I ran home and grabbed my camera. First gold find and first keeper for 2011. I had'nt even dug a single coin yet this year !! Still floored..

I can't wait to see it clean and shiny!! Excellent GOLD find!! I think once winters over for you northern folks, some really great finds are going to show up here...especailly for those of you willing to dig those foil signals!! All it takes is one good find like yours and you get that rush of adrenaline....
