There will be a new pirate in the water in South Texas soon!!!!!!

Well I have been throwing it around for the past two days Excal or GT. Was going to go with the GT(price was a little better) but the pull of the ocean was to strong so I put in a dump truck of overtime these past few days and on payday I will be ordering the Excal from Wanda at kellyco. Although I don't know of any others down this way that even metal detect I have been waiting months to get after some of that treasure I'm sure is waiting on me out there. Saying that I have a few questions I will be ordering the balanced shaft with the guard and a good scoop but is there anything I can ask kellyco to do about the knobs as I've heard they fall off and the posts rust on them? Also any tips on things to do before I take excal into the water? I feel like a kid 3 days from Christmas.

Where are you Lawman? Was a deputy in an East Texas co. TCLEOSE ran out end of '05. I am in Texas too! Galveston Co. Have not seen any rust on the Excal. Yellow cap knobs have not fallen off since Robert secured them in place, last time in for warranty repairs. No worries, great warranty, if you break it! Sounds like you are mounting to the shaft, good idea! Go get 'em! Get a copy of cjc's book on the Excal. Send him a PM and he'll get a copy out to you. GREAT READ! GH

I work down here in Brownsville, used to be a sheriff in Jacksonville, FL. I have heard about that book before from reading posts here but am not sure who cjc is, would like a copy of that book how can I PM him? Gulf I am sure I will be PMing quit often with a boatload of stupid questions until I get the hang of this. Maybe I can get up to Galveston sometime and get someone who knows what they are doing to give me some FTO time:detecting:and shorten the learning curve.

Just click on private messages and in the to: put cjc and ask for a copy of "Advanced Methods for Finding Gold in the Water with the Minelab Excaliber". He'll git cha a copy out pronto. Yer gunna need to read it couple of times, to get it to sink in. Mind warp! It's worth it!

Anytime yer ready, come on up here and we'll give it a whirl! You never know, you may start doin' so good down yonder, I may have to come pay you a visit pardner! GH

Will send that PM, this place should be great Spring Break here and I am at the beach a lot and have seen one guy in 2 years out there and he only hunts in the dry stuff, and a guy that owns a coffee shop on the Island that does a little. I look forward to getting started thanks for all the advice so far.
