There must be 16 ways to miss a Grand Slam:nopity:

And as of today I've accomplished 15 of them.....

You can not find any silver at all.

Or you can only find a Roosie.

Or only a Merc.

Or a Merc and a Roosie

Etc.

Etc.

Or find Seated, Barber, Merc but no Roosie.

And then the Grand Slam.

I've done the Seated, Barber, Merc, no Roosie on many an occasion.

Today was my first Seated, Barber, Roosie, but no Merc.

I went through all my records and it appears the only combo I'm missing is finding a Seated and Barber but no Merc or Roosie; so I still have something to live for in the dime Grand Slam world.

The Seated is 1889-S, Barber 1902-O, both in VF/EF condition. V-Nickel is 1884. I couldn't remember if the 84 or 85 was the rare year. Missed it by one. Also found three very crusted IH's.

The butterfly pin is pretty cool, appears to be made out of clam/oyster shell.

Nice finds!

Think you can put me over a Barber? :)

There's been more times than I care to remember that I needed a Merc for the slam. It always seems that when you purposefully look for a Merc to get your slam, all you find is roosies, barbers, or silver quarters! You still have 2 VERY nice old dimes, that is exciting! Take care and HH, Mike.
