There is something very uniquely Canadian about a mist covered lake, early morning and the haunting sound of the loon...

Alice and I went to blue River on Monday to meet our son. Blue River is about the half way point between Edmonton and us so we thought that another dive at Blue River and then come home would be fun.

We arranged a night over at a motel and since I could not s;lepp well, I was awake at 4;30. Rather than toss and turn, I went for a walk down to the lake and it was absolutely beautiful. The mist was slowly rising from the surface, the only disturbance in the water was from a couple of loons....... and OH....... that haunting, beautiful sound that a loon makes. It was the start to a great day,

The dive went well too. I used the scoot and got two gold rings, one silver necklace and about $40.00 in change.

The drive was long and tiring; but that picture in the morning was one that memories are made of.

And Fred... saw a couple of bears too... Got a picture for you. :):

Those two gold rings will pay for the trip. On occasion, at the old home place, I use to love to saddle Blueberry or Tuff and ride to a certain high ridge to watch the sun come up. I would take a thermos of coffee and just sit there enjoying myself. I would notice some fog rising from Leon Creek in the distance and thought that it was possible that in the past some Indian probably observed the same things. Mike, you have some beautiful country up there and I am glad that you truely enjoy it. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

on occasion here and they call is haunting.... Love it........We go to a lake in upstate New York in the Adirondacks and there are always loons there.... Great to just lay their and listen to them calling... Soon as I saw the picture with the raft, I'm think, what a great spot to dive and saw in the post below that you did. Having your wife by your side, seeing your family, diving, loons, don't get much better than that for a weekend... Did they carve the bears from single tree's or marry them together.....

You must remember that Texas does not have the same type of lakes as you folks...ours are all man made with the exception of one lake in East Texas. We do have lots of stock tanks, some rather large and stocked with fish. Around our stock tanks, we will hear the Mockingbirds and Morning Doves more than anything else, and I guess I should mention that we will often hear a hawk or two high up in the sky. We do hear various water birds, but I do not remember hearing a Loon as per se. We do have an abundence of birds, I am just referring to the ones that I hear the most. My favorite bird is the Scrub Jay Bird, similar to your Blue Jays but without the normal crown. We also have lots of Cardinals too! Kelley (Texas) :)
