I'm curious about how much more depth the Sunray coil would give over my 10 1/2" coil. It is hard to justify 225.00 for a coil right now that might only give minimal performance over my 10 1/2" coil.
On a beach that can mean a lot of difference. At least I hope so, as I'm the guy(fool??-Ha!) who just took the plunge and bought it. These coils have good reputations as does sunray. Bob.
It will excell on a wide open beach as it will increase your depth and more importantly greatly increase your coverage..No heavier than the stock large CZ coil and even feels lighter due to its design and pinpoints well for a large coil..Had one of the early ones and just about gave it away as wasn't doing much beach or wide open fields and actually for the hunting I do the stock 8 goes as deep as I want to dig and am sure your finds will increase due to more depth and above all extreme coverage...but wonder if it goes down can it be fixed as they haven't been produced
for quite a while....Certainly not for hunting in all areas but for large wide openspaces they excell...
If you took the plunge at $225...I think you will enjoy your swim
I just paid $250 for another FZ-12 last week...and sleep well at night knowing so
I used the CZ70Pro//FZ-12 combo exclusively for years until I got heavy into the Explorers a few years ago...and even then I still cherished that combo in clean ground to any other I have ever used.
A year or so ago I sold that combination...and regretted it ever since. I looked long and hard for another CZ setup just like I had and finally found it a couple weeks ago as I posted below.
My FZ-12 got at least 1 full inch deaper than my 10.5 could touch here in my IL soil...and I do mean at least...which to me and the pounded sites I hunt...opened up a whole new layer of finds that were previously untouched.
To this day...the FZ-12 coil is one of my FAVORITE coils of all time.
I hope yours performs as well for you as mine does for me. The good thing is that if you don't like it for some reason...you should have no problem getting your $225 back out of it.
I have one & they stink. Not worth the money I paid. It's a dust collector. It didn't work on my CZ3D. It was too sensitive of a machine. I had to lower the sensitivity way down. It did better on my CZ7a pro. It seemed to handle it a little better. The coil did something with the target id. It would respond lower than the stock coils.
BTW I think it might be normal for the FZ12 to ID a lil lower then the stock coils. I find that it's not uncommon for deeper silver dimes to bounce between zinc and high coin, but they still have that sweet soft ping of deep silver most of the time
