Today I decided to hunt a series of soccer fields at a local school. When I got there I saw another guy detecting over on the other side of the fields. Mind you this is a huge sports field with enough area for 20 or so guys to detect without bumping into each other. During my hunt I noticed freshly dug sod with trash laying next to the holes. I noticed that the sod was not even replaced properly. I corrected 4 or 5 holes that had been dug and picked up the trash. I came upon a hole that the sod had not even been replaced and was just sitting next to the hole. The grass had a dew on it and I could see the guys fresh tracks so I knew it was him. I finally decided I was going to talk to this guy. I walked across the field to him and he was down on his knees and appeared to be covering a hole. I decided I would be nice and just suggest that he dig the holes and fill them correctly.I said hi to him and he just mumbled something without even looking up to me. I ask him if he had found anything and he said not much. He was just really unfriendly and I could see he did not want to talk to me. I ask him about the holes he had been digging and the trash he was leaving. Well he jumped to his feet and I thought he was going to fight, but he said for me to mind my own #$$##$ business. I told him it was my business and if the school officials saw what he was doing to the grass they would close the area for metal detecting to everybody. He said something I can't repeat here and took off to his vehicle. I started to go back to hunting when I noticed he had left his screwdriver next to the hole. Well I tell you now, I did not go running up to him to tell him he had forgot it. If I see him again I may give it back, then again maybe I won't. Well my hunt today turned out pretty good, with a nice handful of clad ,a key and a screwdriver which I will say was a surface find. LOL. Thanks for looking. HH Dennis in Idaho
