The Young Sailor Just Called from Pennsylvania from His Grandfather's Funeral.....

and asked why I called him. I told him that I was retired Navy and understood that he was in the Navy in Va Beach. He wanted to know how I knew so much about him. I told him I had spoken to his Dad in Missouri. I then asked him if he lost anything in Va Beach of value. He said that last year he lost his class ring out in the water. I said, "Oh, the one that's in my hand?" He then screamed "No Way!" I explained that I found it out in the water while detecting and wanted to give it back to him. He was speechless and one happy camper! he figured lost in the deep-six that he'd never see it again. Little does he know about the luck of the Virginia Beach Surf Pirates!

He is on emergency leave and won't be back until next week. He's going to call me and I'll meet him and give it back. I'll be sure to get some pictures of the return.

I love this hobby!!

Happy Hunting!!! VA BEACH RON

...when a guy showed up at my Mother's house with her class ring from the 30's in his hand, and when I saw the look in the eye of my sister when I handed over her class ring that I found in our parent's yard, 10 years after she thought she lost it at the shore :)

What a great hobby to capture moments like that, way to go!!!!!!!!!!

There is no better feeling than to see the look on someone's face who thinks their prized treasure or momento is gone and you tell them to hold out their hand and with a smile make their day. This will be 3 found class rings since last year and all 3 back home. Last Summer, I also was able to find 3 fresh dropped diamond rings for their owners. 2 up in the dry sand that were no brainers to find and 1 was out in the water, knee deep at low tide. That was an awesome find to find one out in the surf. It was a first for me. I got one big hug and kiss for that one and another life-long friend.

Picture of this return sometime next week!!!

Happy Huntin'!
