How is it on relics? Is it a good Button and Bullet machine?

yes, I find loads of buttons even the smallest cuffs hot pretty hard,.. I was digging minnies near 14 inches in Va this year with the stock coil.. it'll hunt relics very well

Certainly a coin and jewelry hunter, but last summer saw one of our more experienced Explorer hunters dig a small button well in excess of a foot.

I found a few buttons this year, I don't always dig the signals but I have found some pretty small buttons plus some large ones. My hated enemy are those pencil eraser sized brass gromets, found quite a few of those in the 6-7 inch range which read much deeper on the depth scale. Relics in general...man I dug some DEEP holes recovering a couple 3 ring bullets, quite a few shoe taps, and some odd brass objects about elbow depth. If its metal the Explorer will get it.
About the only thing it doesn't seem good on is tiny pieces of foil. If you punch up the gain it might hit them but a DFX recently got a signal on a small piece of shallow foil that I could not get a signal on with the Explorer, not that I wanted to in any case. This was quite tiny, 1/4 inch maybe a little bigger. I was running sens 30 manual with the stock coil and gain 7.

I hunt with my friend that has an older(Blue box)6000 D.I. and another friend that HAD(Just sold it to buy an Explorer) a Classic IDX and they both could get little pieces of foil that I could not get a signal on,but I knew what they were when I couldn't get a signal so I didn't try to change any settings to find them.On the 6000,the ones I checked and could get no signal locked on hard as a deep dime on the 6000.You can bet I am glad this will not pick them up!If I miss a tiny sliver of gold because of this, whoopie,I wouldn't want to dig all that little foil to find it!I have found BB size gold earrings, anything smaller, who cares?I don't.What would it be worth,a couple dollars tops? The whites can have all that small gold, and the little foil that goes with it! <IMG SRC="/forums/images/biggrin.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":D">
